Dnipro State Medical University carries out postgraduate education of foreign citizens – the graduates from different medical universities. The academy enrolls at the postgraduate course the graduates from higher medical institutions with MD diploma.

Postgraduate education of foreign citizens is carried out at all clinical departments of Dnipropetrovsk medical academy by 36 specialties. The main aim of postgraduate courses is the training of highly skilled doctors and masters.

Thus, the foreign citizens with MD diploma have the opportunity to continue their specialized education in clinical residency, master degree course, and after that to fulfill the advanced course in the majoring specialization.

Clinical Ordinatura

In clinical ordinatura, foreign citizens acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the majoring specialization. The educational process takes place at clinical departments of Dnipropetrovsk medical academy under the supervision of highly skilled and qualified professors. Training is carried out in Ukrainian/Russian and English (definite departments) languages. Dean’s office of the 2nd International faculty accepts applications to clinical residency and performs general supervision.

Submission of applications is carried out all the year round. Training can be started only after signing a contract.

The minimal duration of training in clinical residency is 2 years. It is possible to prolong the period of training (3-6 years) according to specific demands and European standards of postgraduate education. During the training in clinical residency foreign citizen studies all necessary practical skills for his independent medical practice and obtain good theoretical knowledge of the majoring specialization.

Training in clinical residency at subspecialties (for example, pulmonology, cardiology, vascular surgery, etc.) is implemented only after mastering the basic subjects of the chosen course (therapy, surgery, pediatrics). Terms of training correspond to European and USA standards.

Master degree course

The foreign citizen can apply for master degree course directly after the graduation or after the clinical residency. Duration of master degree course is 2 years. The period of education can be prolonged according to the demands of the student’s country.

After clinical ordinatura, the minimum term of the training is 1 year.

The applicant for a master degree course has to pass two examinations: medical specialty and Ukrainian (Russian) language.

During the master degree course, the student performs a master’s thesis, defeats it and receives the Master of Medicine Diploma.

Advanced course

The advanced course is available only after the clinical residency or master degree course. Its aim is the obtaining of knowledge and skills at specified methods or areas in the majoring specialty.

The term of education varies from 3 months to 1 year.
