The Contents of the Specialty Training:
The “General Medicine” specialty trains personnel for practical health care institutions, including family doctors. A six-year term of studies includes mastering of fundamental disciplines during the first two years at the Departments of Medical Biology, General and Biological Chemistry, General Anatomy, Histology, Physiology. The third year is dedicated to the pre-clinical training, which aims at forming the knowledge of the general and clinical pathology, semiotics, diagnostics and basic principles of treatment of human diseases. To achieve this goal, the pathological anatomy and physiology, the propaedeutics of inner and infant diseases, general and operative surgery, pharmacology, common hygiene and other subjects are taught.
The fundamental specialists’ training is assessed at the licensed test examination Krok-1. Starting from the fourth year of studies, teaching takes place mainly at clinical departments. The subjects studied include general medical disciplines, such as therapy, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, as well as the special core ones, such as otorhinolaryngology, traumatology and orthopedics, dermatology, neural diseases, ophthalmology, psychiatry, infectious diseases etc.
Great attention in the preparation of a doctor for an individual work is directed to mastering practical skills which are possessed during the summer work practice: patients’ care after the second year; nursing after the third year and medical after the fourth and fifth years. The education on the sixth year ends with the licensed test examination Krok-2 and state graduation exams.
The “Clinical Pharmacy” specialty trains clinical chemists for a work at medical prophylactic institutions, pharmacy organizations, clinico-biochemical laboratories. A five-year term of studies implies mastering the fundamental, humanitarian and socio-economic disciplines during the first two years at the Departments of Humanitarian Sciences, Medical Biology, General and Biological Chemistry, Biophysics, General Anatomy, Physiology. The third year is dedicated to learning of such fundamental disciplines as pharmacology, biological chemistry, microbiology, as well as the pre-clinical preparation, which aims at forming the knowledge of general and clinical pathology, semiotics, diagnostics and basic principles of treatment of human diseases. To achieve this goal, the pathological anatomy and physiology, the basics of medical skills, the basics of immunology, the medical genetics, the pharmacology, the common hygiene and other subjects are taught.
Starting from the fourth year of studies, the students master the series of professionally-oriented disciplines – pharmacognosy, technology of medicines. The pharmaeconomic core disciplines are also studied, as well as a series of clinical disciplines, such as clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, pharmaceutical care, clinical biopharmacy, the basics of phytotherapy and homeopathy, clinical toxicology. Teaching takes place mainly at core and clinical departments.
Great attention in the preparation of a clinical chemist for an individual work is paid during the process of mastering practical skills, which are possessed at the time of a summer educational and work practice. The fifth year of studies ends with the licensed test examination Krok-2 and state graduation exams.
The “Pharmacy” specialty trains chemists for work in drug stores, pharmaceutical institutions and enterprises. During the first two years the students master a series of humanitarian and socio-economic sciences, study fundamental disciplines (inorganic and organic chemistry, botany and biology, general anatomy, general physiology, biophysics). During the third, fourth and fifth years of studies they study professionally-oriented disciplines (pharmaceutical chemistry, biological chemistry, physical and colloidal chemistry, toxicological chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy etc), specific disciplines of technological core (chemical and industrial technology of medicines, technology of cosmetic medicines), pharmaeconomic disciplines (organization and economics of pharmacy, management and marketing in pharmacy, pharmaceutical and medical commodity research, pharmaceutical law) and specific disciplines connected with pharmacy (clinical pharmacy, biopharmacy, medicines standardization, pharmacotherapy), which will allow a future chemist to perform their tasks during the work in pharmaceutical institutions. The course of studies ends with the state certification in the form of state exams or diploma paper defense.
The “Nurse Business” specialty trains Bachelors for 3 years (evening form of studies). The Academy accepts the citizens of Ukraine who graduated from medical colleges with a qualification level of a “Junior Specialist” in the following specialties: “General Medicine”, “Obstetrics”, “Nurse Business”.
The evening form specialists' training is performed for the costs of the state or local budget, on the basis of individual contracts for studying within the licensed number of admission.
Depending on the applications of the health care institutions and students' wishes the specialization can be conducted in the following branches: a Bachelor nurse – an assistant of a family doctor or a specialized clinical department, a manager, a Nurse Business teacher, social worker and others.
The applicants who want to receive a diploma of a Bachelor nurse, take entrance exams in the basics of nursing (the major one in a written form) and present a certificate for the Ukrainian language exam.
